Next, click the Restore button, followed by Enter. Press R to Enter Recovery Console. Choose the Windows Installation. Enter the Administrator Password. When a hard drive gets wet, the water could potentially cause a short circuit, especially if it dries on the platters.
But water alone will not destroy a hard drive or delete its data. Vinegar will destroy the data on a hard drive, but without extensive testing, it is not possible to be certain. By far, the easiest way to completely erase a hard drive is to use free data destruction software, sometimes called hard drive eraser software or disk wipe software.
When you delete a file from your computer, it moves to the Windows Recycle Bin. You empty the Recycle Bin and the file is permanently erased from the hard drive. How satisfied are you with this reply? Joined Jul 9, Messages 11, This is most likely an option that has been selected, rather than a virus, etc. I'm not sure how to find out what that option is, or where it is for that matter I'll do some research for you though. An added comment to my post. I also just noticed that on occassion icons are not highlighted but if I single click on Recycle Bin or some other program several programs will highlight at the same time.
If I double click on a program then then rest of the programs will also open. To me it sounds like you have an option selected that would read something like, "Keep Selected Icons Highlighted" with a nice little box next to it. Maybe try another keyboard??? Try Googling your problem and see if you are able to come up with anything. Joined Mar 26, Messages 1, I was thinking along the same lines as Noyb, worth checking the keyboard.
Good idea, I didn't even think of that. Joined May 2, Messages I followed your second option and found the "use drop shadows for Icon labels on desktop" and it did have a tick in the box.
I "unticked" the box and returned to the desk top. The icons all had drop shadows on them but would open individually when I double clicked without opening additional extra programs. I then went back into list and placed a "tick" back in the box, returned to my desktop and only individual programs opened without highlighting additional icons and without opening other programs.
It appears the problem is solved but will wait a day or so before marking it solved. Thanks so much for your assistance and your reply. What would cause that? Due to some reasons like installing some softwares your settings could have been change.
